Visit of Burj Khalifa Tower | Tallest building worldwide | Trip to Dubai, United Arab Emirates 2021 Updated for 2024

Updated: March 27, 2024

The Burj Khalifa (Chalifa Tower) is a skyscraper in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. As of April 2008, it is the tallest structure in the world, has the most floors in the world and also the highest usable floor. Construction began in 2004, and in January 2009 the final height of 828 meters was reached. The building was inaugurated on January 4, 2010. Until the inauguration, the building was called Burj Dubai (Dubai Tower), since then it bears the name of the President of the United Arab Emirates Chalifa bin Zayid Al Nahyan.

The highest inhabited floor is the 163rd, located at 584 meters. Elevators go up to the 189th floor at 638 meters. The 124th/125th floor is designed as an observation deck at a height of 456 meters with a 360-degree view “At the Top, Burj Khalifa”. The flow of visitors is transported to the 124th floor via 2 elevators in 55 seconds. Since fall 2014, another viewing platform “At the Top, Burj Khalifa SKY” has been available to visitors. An elevator first transports visitors to the 124th floor, and another elevator then takes visitors up to the 148th floor to a somewhat more exclusive viewing platform with an outdoor terrace at 555 meters. The rush of visitors is much smaller on the 148th floor than on the 124th/125th floor. Both terraces (124th/125th and 148th floors) are oriented to provide a good view of the “Dubai Fountain” water features, which begin daily at 6 pm, but the 148th floor view does not provide a 360-degree panoramic view.

The Burj Khalifa’s size has made it the center of a new urban development area called Downtown Dubai. A broad mix of different functions such as retail, residential, offices, hotels, shopping, entertainment and leisure have been brought together here, with an investment of $20 billion. The world’s first Armani hotel has moved into the lower 38 of the general-use 163 floors. On the floors above are 43 offices and some suites. In January 2011, the @mosphere restaurant, part of the Armani Hotel, opened on the 123rd floor, which is the highest restaurant in the world by the number of floors below it. In February 2011, two gold vending machines were inaugurated at the Burj Khalifa, from which gold bars of up to one ounce can be picked up, just like at an ATM. The Burj Khalifa is the largest gold vending machine in Dubai.
