Over 40 YEARS serving Dubai's best kebabs Updated for 2024

Updated: April 11, 2024

#Dubai is home to many fantastic, authentic #restaurants, whether you’re looking for curry or sharwarma. And if you’re looking for kebabs you’re well catered for too – especially with our next local legend. As part of Time Out’s #LocalLegends series, we’ve visited one of Dubai’s oldest restaurants – Al Ustad Special Kebab – for proper, authentic Iranian kebabs.

The restaurant has drawn in loyal fans for more than four decades and is set in the heart of Bur Dubai, near to the historic Al Fahidi District.

As well as its yoghurt-marinated chicken and mutton kebabs, the restaurant is known for its family-run, welcoming vibe and loads of old-school décor and memorabilia. With more than 8,000 photos on show there’s plenty to keep you occupied while you eat.

The thousands of photos pay tribute to its long legacy and feature photos of both celebrities and royalty – including Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – who have dined at the special spot.
