Different side to Dubai

Dubai Creek is a must visit for visitors to Dubai. It is the main reason the city is here, thanks to the old trading post which was established on it, and shows a different side to the city.

The creek goes from the sea in the old part of Dubai down to business bay where it mergers into Dubai Water Canal.

The creek is very wide in places and the home to lots of wildlife. A cruise down the creek in an abra or old style dhow boat is a great way to see it and Dubai, although there is a limit to how far you can travel down it because of the floating bridge.

The old part of the city on either side of the creek is a great place to visit – full of life and spice, good and souvenir souks. The historic quarter of Al Bastakiya dates back to the 19th century and is the oldest residential quarter in Dubai. Visitors can walk around the maze-like streets and admire the original architecture of this neighbourhood established by merchants.
