The United Arab Emirates welcomed the new year in Dubai with a mesmerizing display of lights, fireworks and music from the world’s tallest building, the iconic Burj Khalifa.

The light show paid tribute to front-line health workers amid the coronavirus pandemic and displayed words of hope for 2021.

The UAE has imposed restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19 on New Year’s Eve, including limiting social gatherings to 30 and under, and masks must be worn.
