Hatta watch Tower | 140 years old watch Tower | Hatta Dam | Hatta Heritage

The watchtower was built in the 1880s and served as a lookout point for villagers to keep an eye out for danger. It is made of traditional materials like mountain stones and mud bricks, with a palm frond ceiling. The tower is 2.5 meters above ground level and has a small door and a semi-circular staircase leading to the roof.

Today, the Hatta Watchtower is a popular tourist destination, offering visitors a glimpse into the region’s history and culture. Visitors can climb to the top of the tower for panoramic views of the Hatta Valley and the surrounding mountains.

Entrance Fee: Free

The old village of Hatta has two prominent watchtowers built in the 1880s and the Juma mosque dating from 1780, the oldest building in Hatta. The Heritage Village is a recreation of a traditional village in the mountains. There are various “barasti” houses with displays of all aspects of life in the old days. The restored fort has life-like displays of armed guards and scenes of everyday life. From the watchtowers a scenic view of Hatta and its date palm groves can be seen, with a backdrop of the Hagar Mountains. Twenty kilometres from Hatta are the Hatta Rock Pools, across the border in Oman.

The 4 star Hatta Fort Hotel is a comfortable mountain retreat and the only place to stay.
