Hatta is located about 130km from Dubai, in the foothills of the Hajar Mountains. It is a popular spot for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and history buffs. Hatta has something for everyone, whether you want to enjoy the views, challenge yourself, or learn more about the local culture.

Some of the highlights of our trip include:

– Kayaking in the Hatta Dam: This is one of the most beautiful and serene places in Hatta, where you can paddle in the calm waters surrounded by the rugged mountains. The contrast between the blue lake and the brown rocks is breathtaking. You can rent a kayak or a pedal boat from the Hatta Kayak company, which is located near the entrance of the dam.
– Hiking in the Hajar Mountains: Hatta has many hiking trails for different levels of difficulty and duration. You can trek along the winding wadis (valleys) or climb up the rocky slopes. Along the way, you will see the diverse flora and fauna of the region, such as date palms, acacia trees, lizards, and birds. You might even spot the elusive Arabian sand cat, which is native to the area. The best time to hike is in the early morning or late afternoon, when the temperature is cooler and the sun is less harsh.
– Visiting the Hatta Heritage Village: This is a restored museum that showcases the traditional life of the Emirati people in Hatta. You can see the old houses, mosques, watchtowers, and forts that were built with mud, stone, and palm fronds. You can also learn about the customs, crafts, and cuisine of the locals. The village is open daily from 7:30am to 8:30pm, and the entrance is free.
– Staying in a mountain lodge: If you want to spend the night in Hatta, you have several options to choose from. You can stay in the luxurious Hatta Fort Hotel, which has spacious rooms, a swimming pool, a spa, and a golf course. You can also opt for a more rustic experience and book a Damani Lodge or a Sedr Trailer, which are cozy cabins and caravans located near the Hatta Wadi Hub. These are ideal for glamping, as they have all the amenities you need, such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and private bathrooms. You can also enjoy the views of the mountains and the stars from your balcony or terrace.
