“Hands” at @dubaidesignweek 2019 Booth A10

The Hands booth at Downtown Design Dubai evinced great interest in the fair, for many reasons. Two new collections were unveiled: The Hand-Knotted Cryptos Collection, which brought classical motifs, myth and history together, and Forma – a collection of hand-tufted carpets in unusual shapes. The centerpiece, however, was the vibrant Carpet of Tolerance, an artistic interpretation of two canvases painted by the children of the Senses Centre for Special Needs, celebrating The Year of Tolerance. The walls of the booth, which featured images of the hands of people from different nationalities, religious beliefs and ages, highlighted the importance of tolerance in a fast-changing world. Visitors get to see the story of how the carpet was developed. The two collections are now in stores – in Dubai, Delhi, and Mumbai.
