Meena Bazaar Dubai/ Grand Souq – Deira | Old Market in Dubai | UAE
Meena Bazaar is the oldest and biggest gold and textile stores selling and displaying predominantly South Asian wares.
Meena Bazaar is located between Al Fahidi, Al Musalla and Al Ghubaiba streets.
Shops are lined with exotic jewellery and textile stores that showcase embroideries with sari , ornaments and brocades.
Nestled in between these elaborately designed gold and textile stores, there is a massive line of shops selling traditional clothing, leather bags, perfumes, Indian spices, food, and designer shoes. Meena Bazaar is called little India in Dubai. The name Meena Bazaar derived from the signboard of a textile shop set up at the entrance of the lane in 1973. Shops in Meena Bazaar open from Saturday to Thursday between 08:00 am to 23:59, Friday from 2:00pm to midnight.

Established in 1850, Deira’s traditional souk area now comprises a range of markets restored to showcase their original architecture. Grand Souk Deira, just steps away from the Spice Souk entrance, is an ideal shopping destination for gifts and traditional Arabian goods.

The market has a variety of goods on offer, including toys, household items and an array of gifts and keepsakes with the Arabian aesthetic. Examples include trays, spices, perfumes, herbs, shawls and other fabrics.

The shopping site emerged because of its close proximity to the harbour area, where merchants received goods from merchant ships that arrived from Africa and the subcontinent. More than 220 historic building facades have been refurbished and the surrounding urban spaces have been modified to enhance the visitor experience.
