Bur Dubai (in Arabic: بر دبي ) is a historic district in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, located on the western side of the Dubai Creek. The name literally translates to Mainland Dubai, a reference to the traditional separation of the Bur Dubai area from Deira by the Dubai Creek. This is because Bur Dubai historically consisted of all districts between the western bank of the Creek and Jumeirah. The Ruler’s Court is located in the district adjacent to the Grand Mosque.

The district is home to several mosques including the Grand Mosque with the city’s tallest minaret,[1] and the blue tiled Iranian Mosque. The country’s only Hindu temple is situated between the Grand Mosque and the Creek.

It is home to several popular places for tourists including renovated historic buildings and museums. The district has many shopping streets and souqs (or souk), including the textile souq near the abra boat station, though most of the well known souqs are located in Deira.

Dubai Spice Souk (Arabic: سوق التوابل‎) or the Old Souk is a traditional market (or souk) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Spice Souk is located in eastern Dubai, in Deira and is adjacent to the Dubai Gold Souk. The Spice Souk, situated on Baniyas Street, is in the locality of Al Ras. The souk comprises several narrow lanes which are lined with open and closed-roof stores.

Stores in the Spice Souk sell a variety of fragrances and spices from frankincense and shisha to the many herbs used in Arabic and South Asian food. In addition, several household, textiles, tea, incense, rugs and artifacts are also sold in the Spice Souk[1][2]. A vareity of dry fruits and nuts are also available in natural, roasted or flavoured forms. A majority of the trading occurs through haggling. Haggling is easier when purchasing in bulk. Tasting and smelling is encouraged in these quaint stores. Sometimes the shopkeeper may also demonstrate the use of certain medicinal herbs or saffron as usual part of the trade. The quantity of trade as well as the number of stores trading spices in the Spice Souk have been significantly reduced in recent years due to the growth larger stores and supermarkets and the number of household stores has incredibly gained. The souq is a attraction place for tourists. There is a metro, bus and a avra stop right near the souk. There is also a small car park.
