Dubai Expo 2020 – Dubai Economy Collapse – Financial Crisis – Impact on Dubai Tourism – UAE Updated for 2024

Updated: March 20, 2024

Dubai known for its heavy tourism is working on a new milestone. Its ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has promised that Dubai would “astonish the world,” in 2020 & so UAE will be hosting Expo 2020 in Dubai, in October next year. But the condition of Dubai Economy has reached an alarming stage!

The master plan of #DubaiExpo2020 is to attract 25m visitors across residential, hospitality and logistics sectors which may further lead to enhancement of #DubaiTourism but, at present Dubai has been struggling with the global financial crisis.

Dubai has been paying down debt over the past few years but still owes $122.5bn as UAE’s involvement in the Yemen war is estimated to have cost billions of dollars and harmed the country’s reputation!

The crisis has elevated to an extent that, in 2017, Dubai laid the foundation for “Dubai Creek Tower” to be inaugurated in Expo 2020 but the project is still underway.

Will there be justice to the Expo 2020 amid falling #DubaiEconomy?

And will Dubai be able to actually astonish the world via Expo 2020 as they claim, is yet to be seen.
