Now The Palm Islands in Dubai are three artificial islands built on the coast of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The three islands, Palm Jumeirah, Deira Islands, and Palm Jebel Ali, are some of the most ambitious engineering projects ever initiated. In this video, we will be looking into Deira Island.
Deira Islands are four artificial islands off the coast of Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The project was initially called Palm Deira and was planned to be part of the Palm Islands. The remarkable project covers a total area of 15.3 square kilometres and adds an additional 40 kilometres, including 21 kilometres of beachfront, to Dubai’s coastline. But What should you expect to see on Dubai’s Deira Island? Well, three new resorts and a record-breaking souk, to start with.. Nakheel’s Deira Islands will comprise four interconnected man-made islands covering a total of 15.8sqkm, transforming “Old Dubai” into a hub for leisure, tourism and retail. The artificial island is connected to the mainland by a 600m, 12-lane bridge, currently under construction and is expected to be completed right on time for Expo 2020. The destination aims to bring new hotels, retail venues, residential towers and more. Here’s what we know so far…Austria’s largest independent hotel chain is coming to the Middle East for the first time: Vienna House Deira Beach Resort will be a 600-room beachfront getaway with a bohemian-inspired atmosphere. Spain’s RIU Hotels & Resorts – another Middle East first – will be an all-inclusive 800-room beach resort boasting four swimming pools, a kids’ club, waterpark and seven dining outlets. And wait there’s more! Deira Islands is also set to become home to Deira Mall – the biggest retail and entertainment destination on the site. There will be stores, a market, cinema, family-entertainment centres and a running track, and it’s all going to be illuminated by a one-kilometre-long retractable glass atrium. Next to the mall, the world’s biggest night market, Deira Islands Night Souk, will be a modern interpretation of the traditional Arabic souk stretching nearly two kilometres along the waterfront, and will be accessible by road and water as well as be walking distance from hotels. The souk will be divided into a series of villages marked by an exhibition of traditional boats that were used in each. Nakheel is focused on a low-energy consumption project so the souk will not be completely air-conditioned, but built in a way to take advantage of cooling winds.
And now let’s talk about Deira Island Development.
