Dubai Abra Gold Souk Area – A Long Tour

Use code with caution.

Step into the vibrant heart of old Dubai as we cross the historic Dubai Creek aboard a traditional abra—one of the city’s oldest and most authentic forms of transportation. For just a few dirhams, these wooden water taxis have been ferrying locals and visitors between Bur Dubai and Deira for decades, offering a glimpse into Dubai’s past before the skyscrapers and luxury skyline.

Our journey takes us into the bustling Deira Gold Souk, one of the largest gold markets in the world. With roots dating back to the early 1900s, this iconic souk dazzles with hundreds of shops showcasing intricate jewelry, precious stones, and record-breaking gold pieces—including some of the largest gold rings ever made. Nearby, the aromatic Spice Souk fills the air with the scents of saffron, cinnamon, frankincense, and exotic blends traded along ancient routes connecting Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

This slideshow captures the charm of old Dubai—wooden abras gliding across the creek, narrow alleyways lined with shops, and the timeless energy of traditional markets that continue to thrive in a modern city.
