Fancy an al fresco film? You’re in the right place…

While the winter season is still upon us, there’s nothing we love more than being outdoors.

And with the weather in Dubai getting a bit warmer, we’re all about any excuse to be outside. So what better way to do it than with an al fresco film?

Here are six outdoor cinemas in Dubai to try. 

Daily: Vox Outdoor at Rooftop Galleria Mall

This rooftop cinema above the Galleria Mall has re-opened for the winter season and is showing a host of blockbusters. Each ticket includes a food and beverage pack, as well as a blanket to cosy up with in case it gets chilly. Seating options vary from beanbags and single seats to cushy couches suitable for two.

Daily: Vox Outdoor at Aloft City Centre Deira

Dubai’s first permanent licensed outdoor cinema opened its doors this year at the recently opened Aloft City Centre Deira. While through the hot summer months the roof stays on, during winter the roof comes off so guests can enjoy a stunning open-air movie experience. It’s lounge-style seating designed for both singles and couples, and comes with a menu of gourmet cinema snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages served to your seat.

Sunday to Thursday: Dubai Festival City

Cinema on the Bay is the outdoor screen available at Dubai Festival City until April 30. There are free screenings every Sunday to Thursday, showing movies such as Black Panther, Moana and Jumanji. The movie runs from 7pm to 9pm, and there are plenty of bean bags to get comfortable on for the evening.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday: Habtoor Grand

The Urban Outdoor Cinema shows a variety of family-friendly classic films three times a week on a Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Plus, there’s food service from the hotel’s pizza restaurant and poolside lounge as well as a pop-up bar serving popcorn and bites. Wrap up warm as it gets cool at night.

Sunday: Zero Gravity

Zero Gravity’s cinema on the sand runs every Sunday on the beach of the Dubai Marina beach club. They’ll show a different blockbuster each time, with the movie starting at 8pm. Admission is priced at Dhs50, though it’s fully redeemable on food and drink, with a range of cinema snacks, as well as service from a fully licensed bar on offer.

Monthly: Dhow & Anchor

One Monday a month, Dhow and Anchor show a family-friendly film on their alfresco terrace under the twinkle of the Burj Al Arab. It’s free to attend, with free popcorn and candyfloss too.
