See the lights of Dubai Mall Fountain Show on a 30-minute cruise by traditional “abra” water taxi. Climb aboard the wooden boat on Burj Lake. Admire monuments such as the Burj Khalifa before you enjoy grandstand views of the illuminations.
As you know we are in Dubai, we thought of exploring the oldest market of Dubai i.e Old Souk. But to reach Old Souk, which is in bur Dubai, we took another adventure ride. Yes you are right, the famous Dubai Abra- The water taxi of Dubai.
Abra comes from the Arabic verb “abara” which means to cross. Take a ride on the Dubai Abra, the city’s most traditional mode of transport. For centuries, it has remained one of Dubai’s most frequented modes of transport, making it the symbol of the city ’s history and heritage.
The bustling Dubai Creek has been the lifeblood of the city for generations and continues to entice visitors today.
And for just AED1 (18 Indian Rupees), you can hop aboard one of many traditional boats or abras to cross the creek that separates Bur Dubai from Deira
The abras or ‘water taxis’ run every few minutes throughout the entire day across four stations along the creek. The first route goes from Deira Old Souk Abra Station (near the Spice Souk) to Bur Dubai Abra Station (west of the Old Souk). The second, much busier route runs continuously from Al Sabkha Abra Station (just southwest of Baniyas Square) to Dubai Old Souk Abra Station.
Each abra holds about 20 passengers, with 150 working the two routes between Deira and Bur Dubai. Each journey only takes about 5 minutes. Simply buy a one-way ticket, or even hire your own abra for an hour to explore much further up the river. Riders usually sit on a central wooden bench for the short journey across.
Among the bustling abras, you will also see trade cargo, wooden dhows and the occasional ship moving across.
You can truly admire the spectacle of old and new Dubai from the traditional houses, towers and minarets that you pass by on an abra.
The Old Souk/Textile Souk lies over the Creek in Bur Dubai.
The bazaar consists of a long line of restored sand-coloured stone buildings, covered by a wooden roof in one area, and topped with attractive wind towers.
The multitude of small shops here offer a massive range of fabrics (cashmere, silk, cotton, wool etc.) plus garments, slippers, souvenirs, and other goods.

During my daughter’s vacation in dubai.
Family bonding quality time.
This 4k video is a tour starting in Dubai gold souk, into the spice souk and then a crossing of Dubai (United Arab Emirates) creek on a traditional boat called an Abra – Dubai Ferry. The area around the Dubai Creek is known as Al Seef Dubai and this is the heritage area of Dubai. It takes passengers Old Souk Abra Station to Bur Dubai Abra Station. You can catch this Abra from close to the Gold Souk in Deira. From the Abra you get a great view of old Dubai with the Mosques and Souks that run along side the creek, it is also a great boat trip at an amazingly low price. The cost of the Abra trip is only 1 Dirham at time of writing (2019). A really relaxing boat trip and great way to see the city from a new perspective. There are many souks around the Dubai creek including the gold souk, spice souk, grand souk
Dubai Creek is a saltwater creek located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Previously it extended to Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary but as part of the new Dubai canal it extends through to the Persian Gulf.
You can ride small wooden boats called the Abra, Just costing 1 AED for one way, the ride is fun and majestic.
Traditional abra boats aren’t just found in Old Dubai – you can also ride these ultra-affordable water taxis on the lagoon at the luxurious Madinat Jumeirah. Abra tours run every 20 minutes at the resort and are a great way to see your slice of paradise in full.

The Dubai Creek is the original centre of the city’s commerce and still buzzes with boats zipping up and down plying their trade and cargo. Using the abra is a great way to take in some of the older parts of the city. Vic Stefanu, firstname.lastname@example.org.

Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On man-made islands just offshore is Atlantis, the Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks.
A complete tour of Creek, lake by boat and visit old souq market followed by Bastakia, the heritage village (see how people used to live in olden times in Dubai, UAE).
In part two of our adventure on the creek, we took an amazingly cheap, 1 dirham, ride in an old wooden boat, called an abra, across the creek from Bastakiya to the souqs.
Take a walk through Dubai Textil Souk (Market), Spice Souk (Market) & Gold Souk (Market) inclouding a ride with traditional Abra ( Water Taxi ).
