The highlight of our Dubai souk tour was visiting the Dubai Gold Market. The Dubai Gold Market hosts the world’s largest gold ring. It weighs 64kg. There were so many shops filled with beautiful jewelery. Mohammed, from Gold House, was kind enough to give us information about the beautiful gold jewelry in his shop. In addition to visiting the gold souk, we also explored the textile market. The shops were filled with beautiful fabrics and souvenirs. The spice souk was interesting because there were spices that I didn’t recognize. Our noses were filled with so many smells while walking through the spice market. One man at a spice market shop gave us a tour and told us about the spices, nuts, and dried fruits in his store. Finally, we visited the perfume market. We had a lot of fun smelling the various scents. It was great to interact with the salespeople and see all of the wonderful things for sale. Another highlight of our souk tour was taking an abra boat from one side of the Dubai Creek to the other side. These water taxis run constantly and are a cheap, fun way to get across the creek to the other souks. Exploring the souks in Dubai is an interesting way to spend the day.
