ABRA RIDE at DUBAI CREEK Updated for 2024

Updated: April 3, 2024

Join us as we take a quick tour of the Dubai Creek.

Dubai Creek or in Arabic Khor Dubai is a saltwater creek located in Dubai, UAE.

Historically, the creek divided the city into two main sections – Deira and Bur Dubai. It was along the Bur Dubai creek area that members of the Bani Yas tribe first settled in the 19th century, establishing the Al Maktoum dynasty in the city.

Crossing the Dubai Creek aboard a traditional boat is a popular mode of transport for many of the city’s residents and tourist.

The boats used are small wooden motorized water taxis called abras.

They can hold around twenty people and offer the cheapest and fastest means of traveling between Deira and Bur Dubai.
